Background

The present Addis College is started by giving vocational training. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) serves multiple purposes. The key purpose is preparation of youth for work. This takes the form of learning and developing work related to skills and mastery of underlying knowledge and scientific principles. The long history of technical and vocational education in Ethiopia has reached its current stage since its inception in the 1930s. The Founder and Owner of Addis College, Takele Teferi Mangudayu, has realized the importance of vocational education from the beginning. 

The owner started the vocational school which has grown to Addis College at Amist Kilo in Addis Ababa near the former Faculty of Technology (the current Addis Ababa Institute of Technology); Ato Takele’s  vision has been realizing started the vocational training to the unemployed youths. The training did not start so easily, but with the strong faith and firmness of the owner, started the “Addis Technical and Vocational School”, which is the base of Addis College that has reached its current level.

Addis College is a private higher education institution that has been producing professionals who have been contributing their shares in technical and technological fields on the development of the country in the last 28 years. The College has

produced a number of certified trainers and professional in first degree. The College has been growing giving education in Master's Degree Program. The college is a good witness to the fact that, if there is vision, faith and diligence, it can be achieved.

Based on the above realities Addis College is expected to strengthen itself to grow into a University-College and become one of the leading private higher education institutions in East Africa by 2030.
